YES. NO.
Once I sat in on a graduate course on Future Design at the college where I teach communication. It was a pleasure to simply sit back and ride. Nothing to prepare or present. I only had to show up.
All morning long, and at every turn I found myself saying some variation of “Thisss I like!” or “ThisssI don’t like!”, which is how ‘Yes’ and ‘No' often play out in"the real world."
We humans do this all-the-live-long day. In fact, we may have been hired for our strategic assessments of 'what works’ or what needs changing. And how this ‘ Yes’ and ‘No’ manifests is central to decisions to whether we:
Jump ship on this project?
Make the ask?
Swipe right?
Swipe left?
So it’s an endless loop: "Yaaay to may to my dog!”, "Naaay! The work isn’t ready!”, "Yay! Going for a run!"
"Nay! Traffic!”.
Who would've thought a simple binary choice could shape our lives so profoundly?
It’s impressive how it can run our lives unless we run it!
